The YouTube Watch-Together Module enables all participants in a chat room to watch YouTube videos in real-time sync. The playback position is automatically synchronized across all members with low-latency drift correction.

Admin Configuration

  1. Navigate to Admin -> Modules.
  2. Install and enable the YouTube Watch-Together Module.
  3. Configure playback settings:
    • Host Control: Choose between Admins & Moderators only or All room members.
    • Default Video ID: Enter an 11-character YouTube video ID.
    • Sync Interval: Default is 3000 ms.
    • Max Drift: Default is 2 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens if a user experiences network lag?

The drift correction feature compares timestamps against the host. If time drift exceeds the threshold (e.g., 2 seconds), the follower's player automatically seeks to match the host position.

Can regular chat users change the video stream?

This depends on the Host Control setting. If set to Admins & Moderators only, regular users cannot interrupt or change playback.
