YouTube Watch-Together Module
Watch YouTube videos together in SPChat: Synchronized HTML5 player, automatic drift correction, playlist queues, and host permission control.
The YouTube Watch-Together Module enables all participants in a chat room to watch YouTube videos in real-time sync. The playback position is automatically synchronized across all members with low-latency drift correction.

Core Features Overview
- Synchronized Player: Auto-syncs play, pause, and timestamp position for all room members.
- Granular Host Control: Restrict playback control to Admins & Moderators or allow all room members to change videos.
- Default Video ID: Optionally specify a default YouTube video ID (e.g.
dQw4w9WgXcQ) loaded when opening the player. - Custom Sync & Drift Intervals: Adjust polling intervals (1000–10000 ms) and maximum allowed drift (1–10 s).
- Room Status Broadcasts: Broadcasts a room notification whenever a user starts a new video.
Admin Configuration
- Navigate to Admin -> Modules.
- Install and enable the YouTube Watch-Together Module.
- Configure playback settings:

What happens if a user experiences network lag?
The drift correction feature compares timestamps against the host. If time drift exceeds the threshold (e.g., 2 seconds), the follower's player automatically seeks to match the host position.
Can regular chat users change the video stream?
This depends on the Host Control setting. If set to Admins & Moderators only, regular users cannot interrupt or change playback.
